Negative minus negative factions7/13/2023 I wanted to like it so I kept giving it the benefit of the doubt and by the time that I accepted how much I hated the game I was far enough in that I wanted to finish the story so I could say that I finished it. Everything from the constantly annoying mechanics, the terrible vehicle controls, that fucking BB that cries right out of your controller if you fall and only sometimes shuts up when you try to soothe it with bad motion controls, god awful combat (yes I know combat isn't the focus of this game but that doesn't mean that it should be this bad when you have to use it), the BT's that are cool at first but soon become nothing more than a nuisance, the pain in the ass cut scenes when you drop off a package, the constant pestering by the other characters (I really, really disliked the entire main cast), and the frustrating UI made me wishing that I never bought the game. It makes me wonder if Kojima made it just to frustrate people in every way possible, or to see how far he could go with making such a terrible game and still have his fanbase revere him. And to be fair I did have those moments, and I loved it whenever one of those beautiful songs by Low Roar came on as you were walking down a hill, it was just so relaxing and I never wanted those moments to end.īut with that being said, this is the most frustrating game I've ever played. I was even a little excited as one of the reasons I love open world games like Fallout, Skyrim, or No Man's Sky is that I just get to walk around, zone out, think about life, maybe have some youtube video or podcast on in the background, and I thought that Death Stranding could do that for me. I knew coming in that it was a walking simulator and I was fine with that. That's not to say that I think it's one of the worst games ever made - I haven't played any of the classic examples of those like Ride to Hell: Retribution or Superman 64 (except I have played Sonic 06 and honestly I still prefer it to DS), but out of all the games I've played I don't think I had a less enjoyable time playing any of them than I did with Death Stranding.
